Montrose Area Woodturners is a place for new and experienced turners to collaborate, contribute, and preserve the art of woodturning.

Montrose Area Woodturners has  undertaken a new project in conjunction with local artists.  Working with Montrose area cancer organizations, the woodturners are now creating wig stands for  cancer patients.

DIRECT JOB CREATION
 Larger manufacturers: hire woodturners to mass-produce custom parts for a range of products, from furniture to musical instruments.
 Advanced manufacturing: requires specialized woodturners to operate and program complex machinery, such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) wood lathes.

Construction:  Woodturning is used to create decorative and functional elements for both new builds and historic renovations. Woodturning is essential for accurately replicating and replacing damaged or missing wooden elements in historic buildings, ensuring they can be restored to their original design.
Custom product makers: Independent woodturners and artisans create bowls, furniture, cabinetry, and other unique objects for direct sale to clients or at craft markets.

Montrose Area Woodturners is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Colorado Mesa University - Montrose Campus.    This is the next step in finding a permanent home for the club.

The Woodturners will offer demonstrations and hands-on classes at CMU.  Although, woodturning is considered a traditional artisan craft, the skills and knowledge it provides can lead to many opportunities in industry.
