           Our History

Several years ago, a local woodturner invited members of the Woodworkers Guild of Western Colorado to gather periodically at his shop to share ideas and promote woodturning .

As interest increased, the woodturning group decided to become an independent woodturning organization.  In January, 2014, the Montrose Area Woodturners, Inc. was formed.  The group became a recognized chapter of the American Association of Woodturners with Dave Kaufmann as the first president.

Devoted to sustaining and advancing the art of woodturning...

Montrose Area Wood Turners is proud to present a Club Demo and an opportunity for a Hands-On with Keith Gotschall, a professional turner from Salida, CO.  Keith is a former furniture builder who, like many of us, discovered a wood lathe and the rest is history.  Keith is an up and coming name in turning and will be demonstrating at a number of symposia this year.

A proud chapter of the American Association of Woodturners and Member of Montrose Center for the Arts.
